The Chiropractic approach focuses on maximizing your bodies ability to function through the proper alignment of the spine. This alignment is often called an adjustment or manipulation and is performed through manually moving the spinal verterbrae of your spine beyond their nomal range of motion. Often times an audible or "pop" accompanies these adjustments. These beliefs and techniques are referrenced back through the centuries and in 1895 a gentleman named D.D. Palmer was able to direct more attention to this type of practice and called it Chiropractic.
Today, most of us find Chiropractic care helpful in the treatment and management of headaches, lower back and neck pain along with a variety of other neuro-musculo-skeletal injuries. However, with this success those original principles established by DD Palmer have been placed aside and compromised. This may be the result of the insurance industry requiring that all health care providers follow what they consider acceptable practice parameters. This often leaves little opportunity for the discussion and/or education on Chiropractic philosophies.
Your Chiropractor more then likely will utillize manual adjustments or manipulations of the spine which can often be accompanied by some form of therapy. Manipulative techniques may vary from practioner to practioner as finesse, skill and even philosophy often are contributing factors regarding techniques implimented within their practice.
I often have to remind new patients not familiar with Chiropractic, that as a Chiropractor, I am not licensed to prescribe any medicines. If I feel a patient's condition or symptoms warrants the consult of another medical specialist, I will refer that individual to the appropriate health care provider.

A consult, evaluation and X-rays of your complaint area, is standard protocol for an initial patient office visit. If you have any available medical records regarding your past history pertaining to your condition, please take the time to make them available for my review. Chiropractic treatment can be rendered upon your initial office viist only after options, differential diagnoses and direction of care have been discussed. Please know, if your condition has been present for over a year, it may take multiple office visits over several months to get you feeling better.

No doubt about it, if you want to maintain a pain-free lifestyle, regular exercise(3 times per week) is the common denominator for a healthier you. I am 100% convinced that prolong inactivity and a sedentary lifestyle is the primary cause of my patient's complaints of neck and back pain. National data provided from the Weight-Contol Information Network reveals sixty percent of adult Americans are overweight or obese. This is the result of an unwillingness to educate ourselves on better diet choices and the failure to participate in regular exercise.

I have been a practicing Chiropractic in the Brandon, Riverview, and Tampa area since 1985. My values, personality and direction in life are the result of my desire to educate and help others. There's no better reward then for those patients who have had a long history of neck or back pain and have responded favoarably to Chiropractic care. I am further rewarded by their expression of appreciation and thanks through their referrals of family members and/or friends for Chiropractic care.
It has taken me some time to formulate my own ideas and beliefs regarding my own profession. Especially a profession that has a history of controversy. Considering this, every patient's needs are different and often times their condition doesn't fit the "cookie cutter" treatment protocol. Past history, present lifestyle choices and even genetics play a role in the patient's capability to respond to Chiropractic in a timely manner I never attempt to explain Chiropractic to my patients in a manner that is confusing or that is wrapped around some archaic Chiropractic philosophy. I consider myself a progressive type practitioner of Chiropractic as I attempt to implement the most effective procedures and treatment plan to my patients that my 27 years of experience has bestowed upon me.

I had nearly unbearable neck pain. I tried the doctor, just got worse. Had to go to the ER it was so bad, but they did nothing. After two treatments, pain was completely gone, and after five treatments I was feeling better than I had in years. No endless treatments needed. The staff is nice, unassuming, and cheerful. Best chiropractic experience of my 60+ years.

I LOOOOOVE everyone there. They are so nice and the chiropractor makes you feel so comfortable. I was a little nervous and he assured me everything would be ok. I slept like a baby when I got home. He made me feel so relaxed. Im also vegan and holistic so I don't believe in medication, and Dr. Cox is the first doctor that didn't go against my belief or try to convince me to try the medication. I appreciate the little things like that. I'm recommending this office to all of my family and friends who need chiropractic care.

What can I say. I hurt my back went to see Dr Cox and in no time I was back to work. Thanks Doc. I really appreciate you and your staff. Maybe we can grab a beer and talk about how much better it is. Oh by the way Dr Cox is very honest with his assessment and lays it all on the table. See you soon for an adjustment and great conversation!

The best experience i have ever had. The clinic's atmosphere is so cozy, friendly and positive. Dr. Cox was super professional, deliberate and informative. He is not like other chiropractors that keeps dragging you back to the clinic for unnecessary adjustments, he pointed the issue and gave me the solutions. I really recommend this clinic, i rarely write reviews, but they really deserve the five starts.

I have complete faith in Doctor Cox and the office. I experienced the full spectrum of treatment. I felt cared for and listened to without judgement. This was an effective and enjoyable series of appointments with positive results. I was able to return to work after the three visits. Dr. Cox was also candid; he reminded me that my own behavior will contribute to my wellness or lack thereof. I am committed to follow that advice. will return for a tune up or if I manage to injure myself again. Thank you Doc.

I found my trusted professional staff at Cox Family chiropractic. Dr Stephen takes the time to go over your needs and addresses them w/ his 25 + yrsexpirience. I never felt anxious with his expert technique only well needed relief. Then to top it off have a 1/2 or one hour therapeutic massage with Raiza. Trust me, you will be back. My highest compliments to the friendly and wonderful staff at CFC, Brandon, Florida on 603 Bloomfield Ave. thank you, Peter

Dr. Cox is the best chiropractor I have seen! I feel much better after 2 adjustments and the idea of having a massaje before the adjustment works really well for me. The massage therapist, Raiza, is excellent and the team is great. I highly recommend them and I love that they see patients on Saturdays!

After I could not completely loosen my back on my own I finally visited Dr. Cox's office. The staff was professional and I was able to get relief and education from Dr. Cox regarding my specific issues. I have been on several maintenance appointments and a deep tissue massage and everyone has been helpful. I feel 100% better than I did in my first appointment.

Dr. Cox is an absolutely amazing Doctor. Today was my 1st visit and I was in excruciating pain. Dr. Cox listened to my concerns attentively and took his time throughout the whole process. I even had a session the same day which left me feeling a lot better. Thank you and I would definitely recommend Dr. Cox!

Dr. Cox is the best!!! He makes sure that you understand everything thoroughly and is very patient. I was terrified of getting my first adjustment, but he would talk me through it and distract me so I was more comfortable with it. I feel like a million bucks after his adjustments. His staff is super friendly too. Thank you Dr. Cox for all of your help!!
