Since 2003, Dr. Barbara Read has served patients of Central Iowa with the unique and precise NUCCA chiropractic procedure, offering a new hope for healing and and better health for thousands in the Ames area. I was astounded by the number of people coming through the door seeking help for all kinds of problems. People who had been everywhere else, had seen everyone else, and had tried everything else. I was hooked. I knew I had to be a NUCCA upper cervical chiropractor in Ames, Iowa, and I was going to get certified in this work so that I could serve as many people as possible, with the best quality care I could deliver. Fast forward 10 years to 2008. I had finally realized this dream of being a fully certified NUCCA Doctor of Chiropractic.
I have two deteriorating discs in my neck and for years the pain was very difficult to tolerate. I just wanted to remove my head every night and avoid the discomfort I experienced. I don't want to sound like a commercial, but the difference Dr. Read has made in my life is profound. I can go for several weeks and sometimes months without hurting.

I started seeing Dr. Read in 2012. Prior to that I had spent the last 20 some years suffering with bad headaches and neck problems due to constant computer work at my job. I went to many doctors and no one could help me. I found Dr. Read, and after only one simple adjustment I was feeling better. I was at the end of my 'rope' with neck pain when I was referred to Dr. Read. I was taking 1200 mgs of Gabapentin because of an injury that blew two discs in my neck and tore lose nerve endings which had embedded in scar tissue from a surgery done 40+ years ago. I had been told by medical drs. that my only option was injections in my spine--only a very last resort for me.
I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Read's type of chiropractic treatment, NUCCA.
