Marcia S Kesten In 2003, I relocated my practice from Philadelphia to a rural township in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania. I knew that I would have to be more eclectic in the services I offer. I went from being the Neighborhood chiropractor to the Town Holistic doctor. I offer many services including a gentle form of chiropractic adjusting, acupoint physical medicine, nutritional testing, blood typing to assist with proper eating, and constitutional homeopathy, and I do examinations for Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL).
Services
I knew I wanted to offer many different services as I was moving to a rural area that could be deficient in doctors. So I boned up (no pun intended) on anything and everything that would be allowed by my chiropractic scope of practice in Pennsylvania and helpful to the overall health of the citizens in this region.
Chiropractic is a health care discipline dating back to 1895. At that time, D.D. Palmer delivered a spinal adjustment to a man with nerve deafness, Harvey Lillard. As a result, Mr. Lillard's hearing was restored and Chiropractic was born. Chiropractic is a science soundly based in anatomy and physiology.
I have been a chiropractor for over 36 years. It baffles me when I speak to people and they do not know anything about chiropractic except maybe we work on the back and often you hear popping noises when we do our work. Before I explain why to choose chiropractic, you first require knowing what chiropractic is.
Homeopathy is a 100+ year old form of treating illness. Samuel Hahnemann, MD developed it when 19th century medicine was not effective enough in treating his patients. Our own Hahnemann University was named after Dr. Hahnemann and used to be a Homeopathic learning institution. Before Dr. Hahnemann, there was no allopathic medicine because he coined that name as a distinguishing feature between the current medical ideology and his own. Whereas allopathic medicine is designed to palliate a patient's symptoms, homeopathic medicine is designed to cure a patient's illness.
