Alice K Charap

I was having neck problems since years and years. I went to multiples chiropractors and it never got better until I finally came to Alice! My neck is getting way much better. She is also really nice and kind. I would suggest you to go there.

Life during COVID. I am so happy to being see Dr. Charap at her new offices on Valencia Street. I have been a long time patient of hers, over 15 years. I started with a big issue and now I see her for a minor adjustment or if I have a flare up. She was great when I was in daily pain, and now as I have a regiment to meet my body health.

I LOVE Dr. Charap! Been seeing her for years of and on. She's helped me recover are a terrible car accident and now general tune-ups and health maintenance. She's extraordinary and her staff/partners are phenomenal as well.

I haven't been to the office, but I won't be going now based on an incredibly rude front office person. I asked about nutrition and if they carried a certain product only to be told, "take me off your list". Do you want someone representing your business who is that nasty?

She is great, great staff, and she understands the nuances related to veteran specific muskoskeletal conditions. Highly recommend her

Dr. Charap is an amazing chiropractor. She truly cares and listens to her patients. She provides expert adjustment as well as positive reinforcement. I have chosen to heal using more alternative methods. She provides her skills as well as information in understanding injury. I met doctor Charap back in the 1980s due to being car doored on my bicycle and breaking my shoulder.

Because of her adjustments as well as some good physical therapy I was able to walk upright without pain and continue with my very active lifestyle. Fast forward to 2015 when I experienced a work related injury. I returned to Dr. Charap as she was in my insurance network. I had a complex injury which acupuncture, physical therapy, as well as her skilled hands, helped to fix.

For several months I did everything my m. d. and health care providers told me to and I was able to avoid surgery. She was always honest with me and rallied me in times of darkness. I still see her occasionally for a tune up. Otherwise I am able to go about my life doing my physically challenging job. I can now happily continue exercises in the arts and sports that bring me joy within my life. I very much appreciate having Dr. Charap as a healer and would recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate, knowledgeable and, kind, chiropractor.

Did not help my problem at all. I went in with an ache in my neck. The chiropractic did "adjustments" for less than 10 minutes. She asked me to do the usual techniques like heat and stretching, which I already was doing.

Dr. Charap is knowledgable, but be careful with what you sign. I was charged for a few things like a hot pack I didn't realize I was going to be charged with and then given the explanation that I signed something on my initial visit and therefore could have the service provided and charged. Feels weird. Otherwise good.

I have been seeing Dr. Charap on and off for 40 years. She was a great help with my back problems. When I was in pain, she saw me for a few visits until I was good to go. There was no ongoing treatment. When my back got beyond the scope of chiropractic, she made an excellent recommendation of who to see. Recently I came in for help with tingling in my arm. she made a good diagnosis, and set a course of treatment. I am confident that with a few visits and doing my stretches, I'll be good to go.

I was so excited to try Dr. Charap, but unfortunately they don't seem to want to call people back! I did eventually (after 3 calls) schedule an appointment for me an my husband 10 days in advance, then the next day realized due to my husband's schedule I would have to change our appointment time. So I called back in and left 4 voicemails over the course of the 9 days leading up to our appointment, but never received a call back.

On my last message I, politely yet frustratedly, said "I hope to hear back from you, but seeing as I haven't, I guess you aren't interested in both my and my husband's business. Please call me if you'd like us to reschedule!" No call. I'm truly disappointed after all the good reviews! :(

I am saying she is the best! Been going to her for adjustments and few issues and she has always been able to correct it. Love her

During the birth of my son, my tailbone had moved slightly causing me pain. I found Dr Charap through my insurance and after seeing her for 2 months I'm feeling almost as good as new again. I haven't seen a chiro before, but I loved my experience. She focused on the area of pain, and made the necessary small adjustments after heating and loosening up the area. I am moving out of the city and she had recommended another Dr so I can continue the small amount of treatment I need.

I love Dr. Charap! I know I wrote that already a few years back, but I just felt the need to reiterate. I was in another nasty bike wreck and once again, she nursed me and my back, back to health! If you need a chiro in the city, she's the one.

The doctor herself was fine, but dealing with the office was a nightmare. I went there once after a car accident, was told to show up 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. I got there 15 minutes early, and had to wait outside on the street for 10 minutes for someone to buzz me in. I gave them all my insurance info, thought that was that. 6 months later, I got a bill from them saying they would take me to collections if I didn't pay.

I talked to my insurance adjuster for the car accident (who they never contacted), and gave them all the information they needed to send her in order to get paid. Now, over a year since my visit, I just got the same bill in the mail. I have called the office three times to sort it out, left voice mails, no response. By the way, not an issue with my insurance- they paid for 8 months of twice weekly visits to a different chiropractor no questions asked.

I came to Dr. Charap after suffering for weeks with back pain, which spread from just between my shoulder blades to my neck and lower back. After two sessions, she had me feeling like my old self again! Dr. Charap is very gentle and does small, focused adjustments. I felt very comfortable with her and highly recommend her to those looking for a chiropractor in the area. It's easy to make appointments online and most health care insurances are taken there!

Not only is Dr. Charap herself excellent but so is everyone on her staff. Way above average massage practitioners especially Tom who is amazingly knowledgeable. Micheal is also really good. And there is also a fine acupuncturist, Don on staff as well. This is my one stop shop for staying healthy! And I first found her on Yelp about five years ago.

Kind of funny story about that. My previous chiropractor had retired and I was interested in Dr. Charap because of her office's convenient location I had read reviews on Yelp but then on the spur of the moment decided to ask a woman coming out of office how she liked the chiropractor. Turned out she was the chiropractor. What a hoot! Anyway I highly, wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Charap and her team. On-line scheduling is super convenient and they are great about billing insurance.

Alice is personable, intuitive, expert and effective. If someone can out-skill her I don't even want to hear it. She's too awesome, chiro search ended here. Enthusiastically.

Dr. Charap and Michael (the massage therapist) are awesome. I can't thank them enough for helping my back feel SO much better! Easy to schedule (they use an online scheduling system), easy location (right next to Market and Church), and, did I mention Dr. Charap is awesome? Best part - they take my insurance. Love it.

Ok i have had a bad time with my Insurance ASH being jerks and always making me doing reviews for almost every visit, well I loved DR Garelic but he has moved on and Now I had an appt with DR Charap. I was nervous and thinking how can a women give me what a young man in his 30s can deliver and make me feel as good. OMG can I say this women is absoultely out of this world.

She pit me back into shape in no time flat. She use heating pad and her talented hands and in time i was better then new once again. She gave me more pointers about what i could be doing wrong and what to expect and well this women i would say is at the top of her A Game all the way! Randy scorpio Moore

Alice's gentle, yet effective chiropractic techniques are a welcome departure from more violent, abrasive styles I have experienced in the past. I have known and used Dr. Charap for 8 years, whenever I feel the need. Admittedly, I do not have severe, chronic issues which is why I find Alice's laid back demeanor even more refreshing. She allows ME to decide when I need to come back for more treatments.

Even when I began seeing her years ago, she did not try and sign me up for a lifetimes subscription to chiropractic. Alice freely refers to acupuncturists, physcial therapists, and other doctors if she feels that chiropractic is not enough for you. In other words, she is unique in the world of chiropractors who very often feel depserate and very much coming from a place of lack.

Another strong point of Alice's is her bed-side manner. As mentioned above, she gets great results with a relatively gentle adjustment technique and she takes time to listen to you. What a gift to leave a Dr's office feeling heard AND healed. I strongly recommend Dr. Alice Charap to anyone seeking chiropractic services in or around central San Francisco.

I've been to a handful of chiropractors, some of whom were very enthusiastic (read: rough) with my spine and some of whom tried to put me on intensive, expensive treatment plans and didn't seem to understand the phrase "I don't have that kind of money." Dr. Charap is the only chiropractor (outside of my immediate family) that I've allowed to adjust my back more than once.

As others have said, she is gentle, she knows what she's doing, and she's effective. I have minor but recurring spinal wonkiness, and she's been good at putting my vertebrae back where they belong and suggesting exercises to keep them that way. I also love that her primary adjustment room is a converted living room in one of the houses on Church St., and that there's often music playing.

Another bonus is that usually I can get an appointment within a day or two of requesting it, if not the same day. She's also right next to the Market/Church intersection, making her convenient to just about anybody taking Muni.

Dr. Charap was great. I really hate that back cracking noise, but she sort of surprises you with the big ones anyway. I was sort of sad about the speediness of everything - but I usually am at a chiropractors, always, snap, snap, you're done, no romance and relaxation time like getting massages. but thats not her fault. And the heat packs are amazing.

My god, this woman is like the back whisperer. I've been having chronic neck pain and some unpleasant back and shoulder pain (a result of bad posture and terrible workplace ergonomics), but within 45 minutes, Dr. Charap was able to help me identify many of the sources of my pain and help me think of a number of different ways to take care of myself (from changes to my work space to stretches to what kind of pillows I could use).

She also made several adjustments in my neck and back and I left her office feeling truly, truly refreshed. I left her office feeling all tingly and stuff. Oh, Dr. Charap is also the only person that has ever cracked anything on my body without me freaking out and/or screaming. This is mainly because she's very gentle and knows exactly where to press to get results-- so unlike some bad masseuses I've seen, she's not just jerking your limbs around like a thanksgiving turkey. The service at the front desk of Dr. Charap's office is very bizarre. I'm taking a point off for that.

I was worried that I would never find a chiropractor that I liked as much as my student-practitioner at Life Chiropractic College West, but Dr. Charap proved me wrong. She was very nice, straightforward and made me feel comfortable and really listened to my complaints and how I felt about what goes on with my body. I can tell that I will like my visits to her adorable office, and her receptionist is very personable and pretty funny too!

The office is in a victorian and I felt like I was still at my apartment in there, which made it easy to relax. I definitely recommend her, esp. if you have Blue Cross, as she is in the coverage network. The office also has acupuncture and massage!
